Eric - Age 10
Eric is a patient of mine from my charitable mission to Guatemala. This
young child was severely burnt at age 2 in a crib fire lit by
his older brother. His mother is a single mother of 5 children. The youngest
son has Downs syndrome.
Eric has had multiple charitable surgeries on his face and body. Even
after 8 years of reconstructive surgery, Eric still can not close
his eyes or his mouth. He has no left ear and no working fingers on his
left hand. Erics right hand has two fingers. His wrists
are scared down and the severe scar contracture limits his ability to
use his hands.
Eric does not attend school. He helps his family by working in the produce
fields.
This is the first time Erics mother has allowed his photo to be
taken as he has been made fun of and stared at since the accident burnt
his face beyond recognition eight painful years ago.
My mission is to personally sponsor this child and bring him, his
mother and handicapped younger brother to the USA to give Eric the best
reconstructive surgical care in the world.
The major reconstructive surgeries Eric needs now cannot be performed
in a make shift hospital like the one we operated out of in Guatemala.
He needs multiple complex reconstructive surgeries skillfully
performed over a period of months along with appropriate after care to
aid in his recovery.
I have assembled a very skilled team of reconstructive surgeons
to assist me here in the United States. I am arranging aftercare and operating
facilities including my own. I am working with a financial group
who may aid me privately with the costs involved in Erics surgeries,
medical care, and transportation and living expenses during his stay in
the USA.
Despite the Bureaucratic resistance I am meeting, I am determined
to give my all, heart and soul , to make a life changing difference in
Erics life.
