Why?
Sometimes all the dieting and exercise can't get rid of the tummy pouch that result from a lifetime of weight changes, hormonal changes or pregnancy. The physical changes that some women can experience to their midsection with one pregnancy or multiple pregnancies, can cause a lot of permanent physical damage like, sagging skin, stretch marksor even muscle separation in the abdominal area. But a tummy tuck is not only for women. Thiscosmetic surgery can improve the appearance of excess abdominal skin, fat and tissue in any healthy adult. Because of each individuals unique physicalitys there are different tummy tuck techniques to help you achieve a slimmer, trimmer waistline.

How?
The standard tummy tuck involves making an incision near the pubic hairline that extends from hipbone to hipbone. The incision is placed low enough so it is hidden by underwear, panties or bathing suit. Depending on the patient, if necessary, the lax or separated vertical muscles in the abdomen are tightened with permanent internal sutures. Abdominal fat can be reduced using liposuction or excision and then the skin and tissue are pulled down so that excess can be removed.

Upper abdominal lipo can further reduce fatty deposits and improve the overall shape. If necessary, a new hole is cut in the skin to create a new belly button. In many patients, depending on the amount of excess skin, a modified tummy tuck procedure with a smaller incision and without an incision around the navel may be a surgical option. Immediate physical improvements are often seen with a tummy tuck since it reduces the waist, tightens the tummy and removes excess skin and fat.

Its surgery
A full abdominoplasty is a major operation, which can take on average two to five hours depending on the individual need of the patients. In some cases like major weight loss Dr. Corbin may not recommend multiple procedures. Tummy tuck Patients should be prepared for the discomfortand recovery following this cosmetic surgery. Depending on the patient, an aftercare facility and or good home care is advised by Dr. Corbin.

After Surgery?
The average patients recovery time varies from 7 to 14 days depending on general health, type of surgery and lifestyle. Post operative complications are infrequent, but can occur as with any surgery. Problems can range from minor skin irritation from the compression garment to the most extreme and very rare complication involving blood clotting that may develop into a pulmonary embolism. Any tummy tuck patient can expect to wait three to four weeks before getting back to any exercise routine and they must limit their physical activity to allow the body sufficient time to heal. Possibly, the more rest and recovery a patient has the better their result will be. Being a compliant patient means better healing.

A good combo
Patients who combine tummy tuck surgery with breast surgery can see a total transformation of their torsos giving them a more attractive and feminine shape.
