Men
with Breasts
A
Plastic Surgeon and his patients talk about Gynecomastia
Thousands of Men look in the mirror everyday and hate what
they see. Gynecomastia, Gyno or Bitch Tits as some people
call them is the enlargement of the breast in males. This
is due to actual breast tissue or fat. Gynecomastia can develop
at puberty, or from the use of steroids, obesity or smoking
marijuana. Whatever the cause, tissue or fat male breasts
is the source of embarrassment and physical and emotional
pain.
Beverly
Hills plastic surgeon, Dr. Corbin has been performing corrective
procedures for Gynecomastia for over 20 years. Gynecomastia
can be removed via liposuction alone or in combination with
excision. Incisions are inconspicuously placed along the nipple
areolars and patients can quickly return to work and the gym.
Dr.
Corbin was first exposed to many cases of gynecomastia when
he was in the Military. Once the soldiers had to share living
quarters and showers with several other men, they became very
self conscious of the feminine appearance of their chest.
Many were often the brunt of cruel jokes and comments. Luckily,
the military insurance covered the costs of the surgery to
remove the breast tissue or fat. Some other insurance carriers
may cover the cost of this surgery depending on the severity
of the gynecomastia and the insurance company.
After
having his breast tissue excised, Jay (his name has been changed),
a 28 year old competitive body builder is more confident about
his appearance and glad not to have the constant sensitivity
associated Gynecomastia. He lived with this condition for
years and was self conscious during body building competitions
and around his girlfriend. His chest was so sensitive the
pain was unbearable at times.
Aaron,
a male model, fitness buff and actor also suffered from the
humiliation of male breasts. He developed the condition in
his teens and was teased and embarrassed about it. He started
working out hoping it was fat and would go away. After 11
years he made the decision to have surgery. Dr. Corbin performed
an excision of breast tissue. According to Dr. Corbin it was
solid breast tissue and no fat whatsoever.
One
month after his surgery, Aaron is ecstatic about the way he
looks and feels." I am so proud of my body now! I feel
like a weight has been lifted from me. Literally! Looking
back I wish I would have done the surgery sooner. I am rehearsing
for a new role in an upcoming action movie and this is the
first time in my career I will not be self conscious about
my upper body. My agent is also happy because I used to turn
a lot of jobs down if I had to take my shirt off for a shoot
or role."
Men
are just starting to feel comfortable talking about this medical
condition.
Thanks
to the Internet, magazines and television programs on Gynecomastia,
men are educating themselves on current treatments. Weather
a patient has actual breast tissue or fat gynecomastia surgery
can correct the appearance of male breasts and improve their
self esteem.
